The primary goal of the IEIIS shall be to establish a society for the promotion of scientific knowledge on all aspects of endotoxin (ET) research. The IEIIS is an open society whose objective shall be to reach and invite everyone interested in this scientific field, with particular emphasis on young investigators. The IEIIS shall provide an environment where all researchers will benefit from frank exchange of data, views and experiences. The following activities are considered for this purpose:
-
The IEIIS shall organize biennial international meetings for the presentation of new findings or surveys of all aspects of ET research. The Proceedings of the meetings shall be published within six months, using the same format, and if possible, the same publisher each time, thus producing a series of Proceedings on ET research achievements.
-
The IEIIS shall consider publication of Endotoxin Newsletters, a quarterly survey of ET-related news and short articles submitted by investigators.
-
The IEIIS shall establish Memorial Lectures to honor those outstanding scientists who have contributed the most to our present day understanding of the biomedical significance of ET.
-
The IEIIS shall seek industrial or other donations to establish a fund for a competitive "Young Investigator Award" which shall be presented at the biennial International Endotoxin Meeting.
-
The IEIIS shall serve as an information center for the exchange of visiting scientists at pre- or postdoctoral or visiting professor levels.
-
The IEIIS should discuss and propose ET-related nomenclatures and standardized abbreviations as need for such agreements will arise.
-
The preparations and distribution of pure chemically well-analyzed ET samples to use as standards is also under consideration.
-
The IEIIS shall seek volunteers as Regional organizers whose role shall be to communicate with ET-interested scientists in their country or in their large geographic area about present and future activities of the Society.
The IEIIS shall seek and welcome suggestions from the membership regarding every aspect of the organization and conduct of the various functions of the Society.
